ABOUT JENNY
Jenny Yuen is a passionate educator in music and academics. Originally from Calgary, Canada, Jenny's early love of music began at three years old when she took her first piano lesson. Her earliest memories of piano lessons include going over to her piano teacher's house and their pet bird would sing along to her playing.
Jenny continued her piano studies at the world-renowned music education institution, The Royal Conservatory of Music. During this time, Jenny developed a love for teaching and she began as a piano teaching assistant in 2012. Jenny began teaching private piano lessons and the Music for Young Children program in 2013. Since then, she has taught well over 200+ students.
While Jenny was teaching music lessons, she was a full-time university student pursuing her science degree. Jenny's friends and family started reaching out to her for support in their child's learning. That is when she began to take on students for K-12 academic tutoring. Jenny graduated with a Biological Sciences degree from the University of Calgary in 2018. Knowing that her calling has always been teaching, Jenny went back to school and pursued an After-Degree Education degree at the University of Calgary and graduated in 2020.
Jenny is currently an online school teacher with Ignite Centre for eLearning. She is an active community member and started her non-profit organization called Heart of the City Piano Program in 2015 to teach music to underprivileged communities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jenny has supported an online tutoring program with the University of Calgary Werklund School of Education to further support students' learning in our communities. Jenny has an active roster of piano and tutoring students she loves teaching. Jenny hopes is to share her love of learning with all the students who come across her path.
